In a still-mysterious Facebook post, Ferrell gave the Chancellors a graduation shout-out.

CHATSWORTH, CA — He didn’t sign off with “Stay classy, Chatsworth!” as some may have hoped, but the Anchorman himself Will Ferrell did take a second to congratulate Chatsworth Charter High School graduating seniors in a May 19 post that was shared on the school’s Facebook page.

“Hey Chatsworth Charter High School, home of the Chancellors!” the famous comedian and actor said in front of a background that appeared to be his home. “This is Will Ferrell – saying congratulations to the graduating class of 2020. Guys, you did it! Yeah, you! Woohoo! Go Chancellors! Woohoo!”

Toward the end, hip hop music begins to play, and Ferrell gives one of his famous, moneymaking, slightly jarring stares into the camera.

At this time, the Irvine native's exact connection to Chatsworth is unknown. In 2012 he spent time there filming a movie called “Casa de mi Padre,” a spoof of telenovelas and Spaghetti Westerns filmed entirely in Spanish. According to a Patch article at the time, Ferrell learned Spanish in order to play a farmer who battles a drug lord.

In 2005, Ferrell came to Chatsworth to film “Bewitched” opposite Nicole Kidman.

The post was originally shared by Marvin Street, Jr., who wrote, “The ever-so funny Will Ferrell giving a shout out to our Chatsworth graduating class of 2020.”

Street, who has not yet responded to Patch’s interview request, lists himself as the CEO of Mayhem Hollywood, a downtown Hollywood nightclub.

Diana Kim, assistant principal at Chatsworth Charter High School, said that she had not heard anything about the post. Indeed, the post seems not to have made much of a splash – it only received 11 likes and two shares.

Perhaps the school is too busy celebrating its seniors in other ways, like a May 28 virtual awards ceremony, a virtual spirit week and prom with a Roaring 20’s theme on Saturday, and a virtual graduation on June 12. One can only hope Ferrell will log in.

Perhaps Ferrell just likes recording videos for students. In April, he posted a video to students at his alma mater USC, where he gave a full commencement address in 2017. In the video, he donned a fake mustache and encouraged students to hang in there. “I want to make a promise to all of you guys that’s whenever the first day of classes happens I may pop in with my fake mustache, just to welcome you back, and know that your work did not go unnoticed,” Ferrell said as a phone rings and he announces that he must get back to his “internship.”

If the internship doesn't get in the way, can he promise the same for Chatsworth?
