Woman Stabbed, Man Shot By Police In Porter Ranch

Police on a domestic violence call in Porter Ranch found a woman suffering from stab wounds, and they shot the man suspected of stabbing her

PORTER RANCH, CA — Police in Porter Ranch shot a man overnight after he allegedly stabbed a woman in what police describe as domestic violence attack.

Both the woman and the man have been hospitalized in stable condition, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The shooting happened in the gated community shortly after 10:40 p.m. Police were called to the 20000 block of Sardinia Avenue, and when they arrived, they found a woman who had been stabbed and a man holding a sharp object, according to Officer Christopher No of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.

"The officers then were approached by the suspect, a male who was armed with a knife," LAPD Sgt. Barry Montgomery said. "After numerous commands to drop that knife, the suspect failed to comply. That's when officers deployed a beanbag (weapon) and a taser, both of which proved ineffective.
