A Closet Affair With Secondhand Comes To Grant

A Novato women's consignment boutique opens on Saturday offering clothes and handbags to shoppers.

A Novato woman is opening a store for Novato women on Saturday.

Christine Donohue is opening her consignment boutique Grant Avenue and says the store will carry, "better brands and designers in excellent condition."

The Novato resident says she has shopped consignment stores in the past and says opening her first clothes store is "reinventing" herself. "I like fashion and I like clothes. This seems like it will be a fun industry," Donohue said.

The store's website mentions designer and artisan clothing, shoes, handbags and jewelry. While women's fashion will be the focus, she mentions that the theme of previously owned is also applicable on a different level in her store. "I am very ecological and I like the idea of recycling and reusing,” Donohue said.

"All of my fixtures are used. I've rehabbed them all so they look nice and new. I've recycled any lumber that I have. The store is genuinely a secondhand store. I'm sticking true to being green."
