Horses On The Loose Rounded Up By Police In Marin County, Owner Still Unknown (patch.com) — Early Wednesday morning, two Arabian-cross horses were found wandering near Mill Road and Santa Maria Drive in a Novato neighborhood, drawing on the horse-handling skills of a Novato police corporal and dispatcher to corral them safely. A nearby neighbor is sheltering the animals while officers work to identify their owner, and residents who recognize the horses are urged to call Novato police.
2. Dreaded pest discovered on Costco grapevines (ptreyeslight.com) — If you recently bought leafed-out grapevines from the Novato Costco, county agriculture officials want to hear from you after a dangerous vineyard pest was discovered on plants there. Two glassy-winged sharpshooter nymphs were found, prompting plant recalls, inspections at multiple Marin sites, and instructions to contact the Agricultural Commissioner’s Office so any risky vines can be safely destroyed.
3. Novato police arrest suspects in cocaine bust (marinij.com) — Novato police say a tip about suspicious activity at the Novato Fair Shopping Center led to the seizure of suspected cocaine packaged for sale and a loaded, untraceable firearm. Two Santa Rosa men were arrested and later released while prosecutors review potential charges. Officers are crediting alert witnesses with helping remove drugs and a ghost gun from local streets.
4. Petaluma 20-year-old directed No. 1 movie 'Backrooms' (ktvu.com) — A 20‑year‑old Petaluma filmmaker behind the hit horror movie “Backrooms” got part of his training at Marin School of the Arts in Novato. His low‑budget, creepypasta‑inspired thriller just topped the box office, out‑earning major franchises while showcasing how local arts education can launch big‑screen careers. The film follows a furniture salesman into a bizarre hidden labyrinth under a San Jose store.
