Officers also discovered the 13-year-old passenger had been reported missing; that teen was cited and taken home while the driver was booked on weapons charges.
2. America250 Events In Northern CA: What's Happening Through July 4 (patch.com) — Novato residents can kick off Independence Day early on July 4 with the Buckaroo Breakfast at 7 a.m. in the Redwood Credit Union lot on Grant Avenue, followed by the city’s long‑running Fourth of July Parade. The celebration benefits Homeward Bound and features local performers, floats, and family activities, while the roundup also highlights other America250‑themed events across the Bay Area through July 4.
3. Suspect Flees Sheriff's Deputies Down 101 and Across Golden Gate Bridge In Bullet-Riddled Car (sfist.com) — A high‑speed pursuit that began on Highway 101 after a driver claimed a road‑rage shooting near Novato ended with the suspect later arrested in downtown Novato. Deputies found his bullet‑riddled car abandoned in San Francisco and say he was carrying a handgun and suspected drugs at arrest. Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed a possible shooting or road‑rage incident late June 15 or early June 16 to contact them.
4. Scavenger hunt a love letter to Marin (marinij.com) — MarinArts is launching a free July scavenger hunt that sends participants to arts and culture sites across the county, including Novato City Hall and the Made Local Marketplace in Novato. Residents can snap selfies at 12 designated spots, post them with the #MarinArtsHunt tag, and become eligible for raffle prizes and commemorative pins. It’s a low‑pressure way to explore familiar places with fresh eyes this summer.
5. Women's Soccer Adds Transfers Sydnie Fong and Ashley Brewer (ucdavisaggies.com) — UC Davis women’s soccer is adding defender Sydnie Fong, who grew up playing at San Marin High School in Novato, along with forward Ashley Brewer from Cal Poly. Fong brings Mountain West experience from Nevada and a standout prep career in Novato, where she captained her team and earned multiple MVP honors. Both transfers are expected to bolster UC Davis as it joins the Mountain West Conference.
