Burning Vehicle Filled With Pool Chemicals Closes Marin County Road: Police

NOVATO, CA — A road was shut down Tuesday in Novato after officers found a burning vehicle that had been set on fire by pool chemicals, according to Novato police.

The Novato Fire Department and Novato Police Department responded to the scene, where officials determined hazardous materials crews were needed because pool chemicals were inside the vehicle, leading to the fire.

The Novato Police Department stated at 3:56 p.m. on Tuesday that Alameda del Prado remained closed between Cielo Lane and Los Robles Road.

Authorities said there was no threat to the public but advised drivers to avoid the area until the roadway reopened.
