Wildfire Smoke Triggers Air Quality Alert In Marin County

Officials urged residents to limit outdoor activity as smoke from a nearby wildfire drifted into the area.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Smoke from the Woodside Fire in Sonoma County prompted an air quality alert Friday in portions of Marin County, with officials urging residents to limit outdoor activities.

Marin County officials said the smoke has created unhealthy air quality in parts of the county, particularly for children, older adults and people with heart or lung conditions.

Health officials advised sensitive groups to avoid spending time outdoors. Other residents may also experience health effects and should consider limiting outdoor activity.

Officials recommended wearing an N95 mask if spending time outside. Residents were also urged to keep doors and windows closed and use an air conditioner or air purifier indoors if available.
