The cause and manner of Wine's death remain pending as the investigation continues, according to the Marin County Coroner's Office.

Novato police responded around 10:10 a.m. on Aug. 4 to several 911 calls reporting gunfire on the 400 block of Alameda del Prado.

Police said the gunman ran from the area toward Calle Arboleda. Officers arriving at the scene found Wine nearby with a life-threatening gunshot wound.

Investigators believe the shooting was a targeted attack, police said.

The shooting prompted a shelter-in-place order as officers searched nearby neighborhoods with assistance from the Marin County Sheriff's Office and California Highway Patrol. Drone teams, a CHP aircraft and a Vallejo police canine team were also deployed during the search.

The shelter-in-place order was lifted and Alameda del Prado reopened Tuesday afternoon, but the gunman remained at large.

Police described the person they are seeking as a man around 5 feet 6 inches tall who was last seen wearing dark pants, a gray hooded sweatshirt and a black ski mask.

Anyone who sees the gunman is asked to call 911 and not approach him. Anyone with information or relevant camera footage can contact Novato police at 415-897-4361 or . Tips can be submitted anonymously.
