California could spend $100 million on a fix (sfchronicle.com) — State officials are weighing nearly $100 million toward a massive overhaul of Highway 37, the flood-prone route linking Vallejo to the 101 junction in Novato. The long-term $11 billion plan would raise and widen the corridor, add toll lanes, and protect wetlands, potentially cutting commute times for Novato workers but also reshaping how they pay to use this critical link.
   

• Removal of Novato school coach puzzles supporters (pressdemocrat.com) — San Marin High's longtime varsity baseball coach, Novato resident James "Jamie" Vattuone, has been told he won't return next season, and the Novato Unified School District is already recruiting his replacement. Supporters, including former players and parents, are questioning the unexplained decision, while district leaders cite privacy rules and Vattuone plans to continue working at the school as a paraeducator.
