'Book-A-Palooza!' Coming to Novato

Event at new South Novato Library branch includes stories, games, book sale

The following is a news release from the Marin County Free Library:

Book-A-Palooza!, a free family-friendly special event and book sale, is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 4 at the new site of the South Novato Library.

The Marin County Free Library (MCFL), the Novato Unified School District (NUSD) and Novato Friends of the Library have partnered to host the community event, which will feature story times, activities, games, prizes and a book sale. There is a special offer for schools, preschools, nonprofits and other agencies to receive free books by pre-arrangement. Contact Donna Mettier at dmettier@marincounty.org to get on the “approved for free” book distribution list.

Book-A-Palooza! will be the first major public event to take place outside the new branch at 931 C Street in the Hamilton neighborhood of Novato, just across Main Gate Road from Hamilton School. The new location is less than a mile west of the current South Novato Library branch in the converted Hamilton Field hangars.

The Marin County Board of Supervisors recently approved the MCFL-NUSD partnership for the education center that includes the relocated South Novato Library. The library branch, set to open at the new location this summer, will double in size from 3,000 square feet to 6,000 and will be closer to two more school buildings that would offer educational and community programs. In addition to being steps away from the Hamilton K-8 public school, it will be even closer to the North Bay Children’s Center, the Novato Charter School and the future commuter rail station for the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit line.
