Councilmember's Column (Apr 20 - Apr 26)
Councilmember Eric Lucan shares city news, events and meetings on the horizon, and on occasion a few spontaneous thoughts.

On my Mind
As you may have noticed, I skipped a week for my blog and also happened to miss a council meeting as I was in Boston last weekend cheering on my wife while she ran her second consecutive Boston Marathon. After taking a peek at the Marathon website, there was actually a good handful of Novato residents who participated. Congrats to Michael Budwig, Brent Ford, Brian Miller, Catherine Nam, Jimmy Nam, Thomas Olson, Ron Poggi, Amy Strickling, and Angela Warren for representing Novato!
Keeping on the active front, I came across an online petition the other week that caught my attention. It is a petition to install lights at the San Marin High School Athletic Field. As of writing this post, the petition already has 778 supporters. If you track high school sports, you might know that the soccer season is moving to the winter. While there is less field use during the winter season, there is also limited daylight. The petition mentions that putting lights up is the cheapest and fastest solution to the problem and also has additional benefits outside of soccer such as Friday night football games that could increase community and school spirit. It is an interesting idea that has been brought up a few times for both San Marin and Novato High.
What are your thoughts this time around?
