Pat Eklund was the first candidate to file nomination papers for re-election to the Novato City Council.
“I am proud to have had the opportunity to serve the Novato community these past four years” said Eklund. “These are important times and we need to ensure our decisions protect our small town character while enhancing our quality of life. I would be honored to continue to serve our community.”

Pat Eklund is a strong supporter of protecting public safety as the most important priority. She led the fight to keep Novato’s 911 dispatch so when you call 911 you get a local Novato Police Department dispatch employee who knows Novato. In 2012, Pat supported establishing a "Novato Response Team" that focused police efforts on crime prevention, intervention and targeted enforcement.
Eklund has been a strong advocate for preserving our hillsides and ridgelines; while, providing for some economic growth. “To create a community where we can live, work and play,” said Eklund, “we need to build on the growing industries such as biotech, video games, gamification and other high tech industries that have made Novato their home, so we do not have to commute outside of our town for those high paying jobs”.

Pat led the effort to convert 1,425 streetlights to LED fixtures with lower wattage to retain our community ambience while saving City thousands of dollars in energy and maintenance costs. She has worked to increase the recycling rate which is approaching 70% -- the new statewide goal. Pat has worked to expand the recycling services of fluorescent tubes, oil, batteries, and household hazardous, electronic and medical wastes.
“We’re making progress on a variety of issues. I know we’re not done yet – and, with your help, I’ll continue to work side-by-side with you to make Novato even better” said Eklund.
