License plate readers

The city of Novato wants to add a license plate reader trailer/speedometer brought to you by Department of Homeland Security. The only use would be to capture the movements of vehicles and upload to the database for homeland security. For what? I don't know. But, I really don't need government surveillance, even if they say it's for safety. Eric Lucan snuck it past by not blogging last week. I don't know if it's too late.
