Marin Summer Theater Presents Almost, Maine

Marin Summer Theater will soon unveil its latest production, "Almost, Maine", at the Novato High School's Performing Arts Center July 18 through the 21.

Written by John Cariani, "Almost, Maine" takes place on a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost's residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in this delightful midwinter night's dream.

Featuring a cast of eight actors with each playing multiple roles, "Almost, Maine" is sometimes referred to as “A Mid-Winter Night’s Dream." The cast features Alicia Kraft and Ryan Rohtla of Novato, James Carter of Oakland, Hannah Bloom of San Rafael, and Andie Fitch, Andrew Wolff, Danny Ford and Jessica LaFever of San Francisco.

Almost, Maine is directed by Nancy Carlin, who has directed productions for Shakespeare Santa Cruz, Center Rep, Foothill Theatre, Aurora Theatre, Lake Tahoe Shakespeare, among others.

Almost, Maine highlights the magical nature of love and human connections on one starry night under the extraordinary aurora borealis,” she said. “It's very funny and very poignant. Everyone can relate to these very human characters struggling to communicate their feelings.”
