San Marin High School senior Ben Rasmussen won first place in the California Boy's State oratorical competition earlier this summer. Each school chooses one outstanding young man to send to the state convention, and over 1,000 were in attendance at this year's event. 136 young men chose to compete in the oratorical portion of the event by writing and delivering their own speeches on the topic, "What does 'We the People' means to this generation?" Ben brought home a first place finish and was honored by delivering his award-winning speech at the final night's ceremony. Ben is currently President of San Marin's Speech and Debate team, a member of the San Marin Mock Trial team, and a California Scholarship Federation member.
