Novato Boy Scout Receives "Boy Scout of the Year" Award from Marin Council
"All of us at Troop 200 are honored and extremely proud of Tony!"

Tony MacCarthy, a Boy Scout from Novato Troop 200, was named Marin Council’s “Boy Scout of the Year” at the recent Marin Council Recognition Dinner held Monday, March 16th in San Rafael. This prestigious award is given to the one Boy Scout in Marin County who stands out and demonstrates exemplary leadership and scouting skills over the course of a year.
According to Troop 200 Scoutmaster Mike Madias, “Tony exemplifies what Troop 200 scouts stand for, which is self-confidence, self-reliance, and altruistic thinking and actions. He exhibits true servant leadership by embracing the Boy Scouts of America program that focuses on citizenship, community, and character. All of us at Troop 200 are honored and extremely proud of Tony.”
Tony has been involved in Scouting from a young age and is now about to receive the highest rank of Eagle Scout in Troop 200 of Novato. Tony’s Eagle Scout project involved improving the safety at Trumbull Manor Conference Center in Novato by overseeing the coordination and hands-on installation of new cement stairs for visitors.
