Novato to Consider Action on Housing Element

It's happening at the Nov. 18 city council meeting.

The following is an announcement from the city of Novato:


NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Notice is hereby given that the Novato City Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. in the Novato City Hall Council Chambers, 901 Sherman Avenue, Novato, California, to consider taking the following actions as recommended by the Planning Commission:

A. The draft City of Novato Housing Element, 2015-2023 includes policies and programs consistent with those contained in the City of Novato Housing Element, 2007-2014 and the analysis prepared in the corresponding Program EIR, which was certified by the City Council in November 2013 (FEIR). As such, the City Council will consider the recommendation of the Planning Commission that adoption of the draft City of Novato Housing Element, 2015-2023 (Project) is within the scope of the previously certified FEIR and that the FEIR adequately describes the activity for the purposes of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The City Council will consider the FEIR and the Project and will consider and possibly make findings pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Sections 15168 and 15162 that no additional environmental review is required for the Project; and

B.Amend the 1996 Novato General Plan to incorporate the draft City of Novato Housing Element 2015-2023.

Comments received on or before the public hearing date noted above will be considered by the Planning Commission.

If anyone wishes to challenge this project in court, they may be limited to raising only those issues they or anyone else raised at the public meeting described in this notice or in written correspondence delivered to the Community Development Department at, or prior to, the public meeting.

The City of Novato Community Development Department is located at 922 Machin Avenue, Novato, CA 94945. The Department is open Monday through Friday (closed every other Friday, including November 7, 2014) 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
