Novato Couple's Good Deeds Highlighted in CBS Story

Roy and Claudia Asprer, Novato residents who have taken in 90 foster children in the past decade and a half, are well known in town.

Now the couple’s good deeds are getting broader recognition, with a new story on CBS’s On the Road.

"It takes a lot of time," Claudia Asprer told CBS. "You have to put in the time helping them with the homework. 'This is how you study for biology.' 'This is how you're going to take your notes.' 'This is how you're going to do flashcards.'"

The Asprers’ focus on studying has paid off with nearly all of their foster children having gone to college. The latest is their 18-year-old daughter Brittney Edmondson, who a couple of years ago had a 0.0 GPA.
