Novato High Grad Grabs College Essay Prize
Freshman Tim MacAusland pockets $75 for academic writing excellence.

A Novato High grad with an award-winning acting background has been honored for excellence in writing.
Tim MacAusland, a Peninsula College (Port Angeles, Wash.) freshman, was among three winner's of his school's Outstanding English Essay Award, the Sequim Gazette reports.
MacAusland, who graduated from Novato in 2011, placed second and was awarded $75 for his essay titled “Do We Taste Like Chicken?”

MacAusland was a awarded a Gold medal for a monologue performance of Aeschylus' "The Libation Bearers" at the 2011 Bob Smart Festival. He's also represented Peninsula College in the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, the Gazette reports.
