Novato Police Arrest Suspected Car Thief

Police on Tuesday arrested a man who allegedly stole a vehicle in Novato.

Novato police arrested Jose Valdez, 22, of Novato, on suspicion of auto theft.

Officers responded to an area around Sunset Parkway on a report of a stolen vehicle being driven in the area, police said.

Officers located the vehicle and detained two suspects who were inside.

The driver, later identified as Valdez, was determined to be responsible for the theft and he was arrested, police said.

The passenger in the vehicle was released and the vehicle was returned to its owner, according to police.
