Novato Police Bust Suspected Car Thief Thanks to Automated Plate Reader

Police arrested the San Rafael man on Sunday.

Police arrested two people Sunday in Novato in connection with a vehicle theft out of San Rafael.

Police said the arrest was made after an automated license plate reader in a patrol car notified an officer a vehicle entering southbound U.S. Highway 101 was reported stolen.

Police stopped the vehicle and arrested Edgar Gibson Abril Sequen, of San Rafael, and a 17-year-old San Rafael resident on suspicion of vehicle theft.

Police said the vehicle was reported stolen on Oct. 18.
