Novato Police Conducting Murder Investigation After Body is Found

Police in Novato are investigating a homicide after a body was found in an open space area on Friday evening, police announced Sunday.

 A hiker in an open space area near Calle Arboleda around 5:40 p.m. found a person who appeared to be unresponsive, according to police.

 Police said officers arrived on the scene and found the person's body in the open space a short distance from the road.

Police determined that the person had been murdered. The homicide victim's identity has not been released.

 Police are actively investigating the killing and following a number of leads.
