Novato Police Issue Social Host Ordinance Citation, Stop Teen for DUI After Party

Two people were cited in the weekend incident, police said.

Novato police issued a citation to the homeowner of a residence where minors were allegedly drinking alcohol early Saturday, then cited a teen on suspicion of DUI nearby, police said.

Officers responded at 2:02 a.m. Saturday to a complaint of a party in the 700 block of Lamont Avenue, where groups of people then dispersed into the neighborhood, according to police.

Following an investigation that determined the party included alcoholic beverages in the possession of minors, officers issued a social host ordinance citation to the homeowner, 47-year-old Elizabeth Jones-McDowell, police said.

Officers also saw a group of partygoers enter a nearby vehicle and try to leave. The vehicle’s driver, Ezekiel Hobbs, 18, of Santa Rosa, was contacted by police and determined to be under the influence of alcohol.

Hobbs was cited and later released, police said.
