Novato Police K9 Helps Sniff Out Drugs During Traffic Stop

Police ended up finding more than a pound of processed marijuana.

A 28-year-old man suspected of possessing marijuana was arrested during a traffic stop in Novato on Friday evening, police said.

A K-9 officer stopped a car on southbound U.S. Highway 101 at the Marinwood Avenue off-ramp around 5:40 p.m.

A police K-9 sniffed the exterior of the car and indicated that the smell of narcotics was coming from inside, police said.

The officer searched the car and found more than a pound of processed marijuana, according to police.

The driver, identified as Laytonville resident Juan Carlos Navarro-Barba, was arrested on suspicion of transportation of marijuana, possession of marijuana and an outstanding warrant from Alameda County, police said.
