Novato Police Pursuit Ends in Two Arrests
Police say tow men were caught driving a stolen vehicle.

Two men were arrested Thursday in Novato after police said they led officers on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle.
An officer was patrolling just after 1 p.m. in the 5700 block of Nave Drive when he tried to pull over a vehicle for a code violation, police said.

Instead of pulling over, the vehicle, which was reported stolen out of Oakland, sped off, police said.
A pursuit ensued until the vehicle crashed into a carport and storage shed on Barcelona Drive in the Los Robles mobile home park, police said. Two men inside the vehicle tried to flee on foot.

The driver, identified as Timothy Melchior, 28, was immediately apprehended, and the second man, identified as Brett Hatt, 33, was apprehended a short time later, police said.
Melchior was arrested on suspicion of evading an officer, DUI, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of burglary tools, numerous vehicle violations and on an outstanding warrant. Hatt was arrested on suspicion of resisting an officer and possession of a stolen vehicle.
