Novato Signage/Grant Ave

Why didn't the city just add the word "Historic" to the existing sign already in place on Delong Ave? It looks so bad to have a double sign, not to mention additional cost, at this location. And since when is Novato any more "historic" than any other city in Marin? I don't see new signs in "historic" Sausalito. This seems a big waste of money.
And why all the fuss about the theater when the old Pini Hardware site sits vacant? That's city blight. Get that rented and bring new life to that part of Grant Ave. Can the city impose fines on the landlords of Grant Ave buildings that remain empty? Just a thought.
