Novato Townhouse Development Proposed
A local developer is holding a series of neighborhood meetings seeking input from the public on a proposal to build 35 or so housing units in Novato.
A local developer has submitted a design review application to the city to build a townhouse cluster in Novato.
Hamilton Square's proposal is for a 35-unit townhouse development on a 2.7-acre parcel with adjacent amenities on the northwest corner of Main Gate Road and C Street.
"It's 35 units as of right now," Development Manger Rob Davidson said in an email to Patch requesting information about the proposal.

Davidson's company held a neighborhood meeting to gather public input on the proposal on Thursday night that he said was the first of at least four more that will be held over the next year.
"We are in the early stages of meeting with the community and the city to discuss the project," he said.

The proposal calls for 3-story Spanish Revival-style townhouses with white and off-white formed stucco with Spanish accents.
The proposal includes plans to demolish a vacant building and canopy area on the site of an old gas station and build 35 2- and 3-bedroom units in 10 buildings. The townhouses would be clustered around a common open park space with an internal street network.
This design allows for the frontage of the townhomes to face C Street, Main Gate Road, and the new internal street network that the developer says would minimize the appearance of garages from the streets.
The development plans include 60 enclosed off-street parking spaces that would be located within each unit, accessible from the rear of the unit through an alley network.
Additional parking (30 spaces) would be provided along the new internal street network. This project would also consist of 12 off-site parking spaces along C Street and Main Gate Road.
Site access will be on C Street and Main Gate Road with access to public transportation, Davidson said.
"We're very excited about the opportunity to build for-sale residential (homes) in such close proximity to the new SMART stop, making for an excellent transit oriented in-fill development," Davidson said.
"At the same time, we'll be able to clean up the old gas station which should be a great benefit to Hamilton. We think it could be a great townhome project and look forward to discussing it further with all stakeholders."
