Novato Unified Cancels School for Thursday, Friday

Classes are canceled due to the inclement weather that is forecast.

Novato Unified School District schools will be closed Thursday and Friday because of an anticipated storm, school district officials said Wednesday.

The district has been working with the Novato police and fire departments and decided to close the schools for the safety of students, families and staff, Superintendent Dr. Shalee Cunningham said.

The schools will reopen next Monday.

The district will communicate with families through its call out system, as well as on social media and posting information on its website.

Novato city officials said the storm is expected to be the strongest in wind and rain intensity since Oct. 13, 2009 and Jan. 4, 2008.

City staff will be working and on call 24 hours to address flooding of public roads and facilities.

The city’s Emergency Operations Center will coordinate and distribute information as needed.
