Members
of the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art have created an exhibition of works opening
July 20th. Working with the theme “Out of Order”, MarinMOCA members will present artworks that challenge ideas about expected
progressions and compositions. The
exhibition deconstructs, rearranges and reconfigures subject matter in unexpected
ways.
New member Jodi Lieburn Chimenti’s
piece Desire, is a collage which
combines various techniques to create a landscape of flowing organic shapes. Bette Golden Lamb’s piece, Broken
Hearted, transforms a clay vessel into a textured and snarled sculpture
that echoes the sentiment in its title. Zen Du’s bold composition, A Message in a Bottle Floating in a Sea
is a dramatic and energetic abstract composition. Robert Allen of the Robert Allen Fine Art Gallery in Sausalito will serve as juror.
A concurrent exhibition will be taking place in the the Ron Collins
Gallery, where local non-profit organization Cedars of Marin will be showcasing some
of the work of their artists. Cedars in Marin supports developmentally
disabled adults through award winning, innovative day programs that involve
them in community service projects, work experiences, textile arts, gardening,
creative arts and functional academics. Their exhibition features a variety
of artworks from several of their members.
