September 5th, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Marcella Friel, long-time Shambhalian and one of our favorite our Open House hosts, will give a talk and lead a discussion entitled “Self Care and Enlightened Society” as a prelude to a program she plans to offer later this year or early next at our Center: “The Art of Getting Dressed.” As someone who holds the unshakeable conviction that we can apply dharmic principles to every aspect of our lives, Marcella will guide us in a the discovery that dignified and uplifted presentation (whether you are a man or a woman) is just as available at the Church Mouse as it is at Neiman Marcus.

We begin our Open House evenings at 7:00 p.m. with meditation instruction and a short period of sitting meditation practice. At around 7:30, we provide either a short Dharma talk or video followed by a group discussion. Afterwards, we adjourn for tea and snacks in our cafe-style community room and chat with Shambhala practitioners and other visitors. There's plenty of time for visitors to ask any questions they may have and also to explore in greater depth the topic of the evening. The evening ends between 8:30 and 9:00.
