Taste a Seasonal Cajun Menu from 1300 on Fillmore

We’ve demanded an encore from Chef David Lawrence of 1300 on Fillmore, whose sold-out evening last fall introduced Novato to his unique seasonal style.

He returns to Fresh Starts Chef Events with another delicious menu from his restaurant/lounge in the heart of San Francisco’s toe-tapping Fillmore District. This special benefit event from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, has music to match the food from local saxophonist Rob Roth & the Jazz Cookers!

The menu:

• Grilled Red Stark Crimson Pears with House-Cured Duck Pastrami, Sonoma Goat Cheese & Honey-Pomegranate Vinaigrette
  
• Pan-Roasted Bronzino Bass, Roasted Sunchokes, Anise-Cherry Tomato Broth & Lima Beans
  
• Pumpkin & Ginger Snap Cheesecake

Chef David describes himself as English-born with Jamaican roots, combined with French training and inspiration from the southern quarter of the United States. His culinary training includes a stint at Le Gavroche in London; he arrived in California in 1988 and opened 1300 on Fillmore with his wife, Monetta, in 2007.

The restaurant has since received warm reviews and attracted a devoted clientele; San Francisco Chronicle restaurant critic Michael Bauer called it, “a modern restaurant...a guidepost to what the Fillmore Jazz Preservation District can become.”

Our side dish of music from the Jazz Cookers will be a treat with Rob Roth, a Bay Area saxophone virtuoso who appears regularly at No Name Bar in Sausalito and Yoshi’s in Oakland.
