Tech Tool Helps Novato Cops Recover Another Stolen Vehicle

Novato police on Wednesday morning recovered a stolen vehicle with the aid of 21st Century technology.

Officers in an Automated License Plate Reader-equipped patrol car were alerted to a reported stolen vehicle on the 100 block of Alameda de la Loma at about 9:27 a.m.

The 1995 Nissan Altima was found parked and unoccupied. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Novato.

The ALPR system assists law enforcement officers by automatically recognizing license plates entered into stolen vehicle databases.

The Novato Police Department has several ALPR-equipped patrol cars.

Today's ALPR vehicle recovery is the Novato Police Department's second in less than a week.

Police on Thursday recovered a 1996 Nissan Sentra reported stolen from Oakland on the 1000 block of Fourth Street.
