• Fatal Motorcycle Crash on SR-4 near Oakley, Contra Costa County (rwbpress.com) — A deadly motorcycle crash on State Route 4 near Oakley shut down the highway in both directions late Friday night while authorities investigated. The rider struck a guardrail and light pole, and officials are now examining whether road design or maintenance played a role, which could open the door to a wrongful death claim for the family.
   

• Richmond considers switching from Flock to a different surveillance firm (richmondside.org) — Oakley is cited as the first Bay Area city to pass a moratorium on new data centers, a move Richmond is now considering as it weighs AI-related development and utility impacts. Richmond's council will also decide whether to replace Flock surveillance cameras with a larger Axon system and discuss how to use its massive Chevron settlement.
