OCEANSIDE, CA —The history of Oceanside reaches back to the founding of Mission San Luis Rey in 1798. The City of Oceanside was incorporated on July 3, 1888.

For anyone unfamiliar with the rich and interesting past of our fair city, the Oceanside Historical Society has one of the largest historic photo collections in the county on nearly every subject concerning the 133 years of Oceanside history.

The Oceanside Historical Society's mission is to gather, preserve and share the history through their museum, website, publications and walking tours. Most services, including the museum and history walks, are free.
