2 Displaced By House Fire In Oceanside

Firefighters quickly evacuated the residents and contained the fire to a back bedroom of the house, officials said.

OCEANSIDE, CA — Two people escaped a house fire Monday morning in Oceanside, authorities said.

A neighbor reported the fire at 6:55 a.m. after seeing smoke coming from the vents in the roof of the home at 616 Monica Circle, according to the Oceanside Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and found two residents inside the home, according to the department. They quickly evacuated the residents and contained the fire to a back bedroom of the house.

Crews with Camp Pendleton and Vista fire departments assisted in the firefight.

"The fire was knocked down within 10 minutes of the first arriving fire," the department said in a news release. "Additional fire crews assisted with shutting off utilities, evacuating smoke from the home, and completing a secondary search for any trapped residents."

The Red Cross was supporting the displaced residents.

The fire remained under investigation.
