Morning, Oceanside-Camp Pendleton! Here's everything you need to know to get this Tuesday started off right. Here's what's going on around town.


First, today's weather:

Turning sunny and cool. High: 60 Low: 40. The New Year morning chill will be replaced by warm sunny skies in the afternoon.


Here are the top five stories in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton today:

  1. How does Oceanside rank for keeping New Year's Resolutions? Turns out Oceanside is the 3rd best city in the country for keeping Health-Related New Year's Resolutions and ranks 26th for keeping Bad-Habit Resolutions.   2. One of the best meteor showers of the year runs Jan. 1-5. An above-average meteor shower, the Quadrantids reliably produce about 40 shooting stars an hour at the Jan. 3-4 peak.   3. Orange County Supervisor Lisa Bartlett announced her candidacy to represent the newly-drawn 49th Congressional District to run as a Republican against incumbent Democrat Rep. Mike Levin. Bartlett joins Oceanside Councilmember, Christopher Rodriguez, as well as fellow Republican Brian Maryott, the previous district challenger and former San Juan Capistrano councilmember.
