We have been cleaning carpet and upholstery in San Diego since 1988 and have learned a thing or two about how to make your carpet last longer and keep it looking good. Here are 5 things should do.
First: Vacuum as often as possible. I know it's hard, but it's worth it. Try to vacuum a couple rooms every day or two or as often as possible. This is the most important thing you can do and will extend the life of your carpet so you'll save money.
Second: Keep a clean pair of shoes or sandals at every entry that you only wear inside. Take off your other shoes and put those on every time. Doing this helps keep outside dirt off the carpet slowing down the aging process and also making it last longer and look good.
Third: Get good spotter and keep it in your cupboards all the time. There are many good ones. Call me and I can recommend one if you like. Vic 760 753 7373
Fourth: If you do spill, immediately blot, blot blot with a clean soft cloth. Blot until no more is coming up. Then get another cloth and spray a fine mist of spotter onto the spot and rub vigorously to try to remove what's left on the surface. The spot will probably return, depending on how much was spilled and what it was, but that can last for some time.
Fifth: Have your carpet professionally cleaned, using a Truck Mounted carpet cleaner at least once a year or so depending on lifestyle. We can extract all the dirt and offending spills and spots like nothing else can.
That's it. Do these things and your carpet will look good and last years longer. We'll write more next time.
