A man allegedly stabbed his father and then holed up inside a San Marcos apartment before SWAT teams swarmed him.
SAN MARCOS, CA — A 20-year-old man allegedly stabbed his father and then barricaded himself inside a San Marcos apartment for nearly six hours Tuesday before being taken into custody and booked on suspicion of attempted murder, authorities said.
Shortly before 2:30 a.m., deputies responded to reports of a disturbance at the Windsor Manor Apartments on Knoll Road between Los Vallecitos Boulevard and Autumn Drive, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
"When deputies from the San Marcos Sheriff's Station arrived at the scene, they found a 49-year-old man with multiple stab wounds," said Lt. Ricardo Lopez. "The man was transported to Palomar Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries."

The victim's son, Saul Resendiz Jr., barricaded himself inside the apartment and refused to communicate with deputies, triggering a SWAT team response, Lopez said.
Deputies interviewed family members of the victim at the scene as sheriff's negotiators attempted to persuade the young man to surrender peacefully.
