A federal search warrant details two alleged assaults involving racial slurs, though no charges have been filed.

OCEANSIDE, CA — A newly filed federal search warrant alleges three men who identified themselves as "skinheads" carried out two unprovoked attacks near the Oceanside Pier that investigators are treating as hate crimes, according to a report by NBC 7.

The attacks occurred the same evening in June 2025. The first attack happened shortly after sunset, when the suspects reportedly yelled racial slurs before assaulting a 21-year-old Asian American man and his wife near the pier, according to NBC 7.

Minutes later, investigators said the same group attacked two Camp Pendleton Marines at Pier Plaza after shouting racial slurs. One of the Marines was Black, and the other was white.

Oceanside police detained all three suspects the night of the attacks, and each claimed to have acted in self-defense.

Although none of the suspects have been charged, federal investigators are pursuing potential charges including hate crimes, violent interference with federally protected rights and conspiracy, according to the warrant.

The investigation remains ongoing. The search warrant seeks the suspects' cell phone records as investigators gather evidence related to the attacks, NBC 7 reported.
