CAMP PENDLETON, CA — A Marine recruit who died after suffering a medical emergency during a physical fitness evaluation at Camp Pendleton has been identified as 18-year-old Pvt. Aiden Craig, military officials said Wednesday.
Craig, who was assigned to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, died at 3:49 p.m. Aug. 5 at Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside, according to an update from the depot. He suffered the medical emergency Aug. 1 during the fitness test at Camp Pendleton.
Craig was assigned to Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion. He was on the 47th day of recruit training when the incident occurred, officials said.
The investigation remains ongoing. No further information will be released at this time, officials said.
