4. Oceanside spent tens of millions on homelessness. Here's what they used it for. (sandiegouniontribune.com) — Oceanside residents are getting a closer look at how more than $40 million is being used to tackle homelessness, with most funding going to Section 8 rental assistance and housing-first programs. A recent City Council presentation detailed outcomes from the Navigation Center, safe parking, and state grants, while highlighting rising homelessness numbers and the growing vulnerability of local seniors.
   

5. Oceanside steps up storm preparations ahead of El Niño (northcoastcurrent.com) — Oceanside is ramping up preparations for a potentially very strong El Niño, with an interdepartmental working group, storm-drain clearing, and flood-response training already underway. Residents are urged to sign up for Ready Oceanside alerts, review flood risks, and pick up free sandbags at Moody's El Corazon Recycling on Oceanside Boulevard before heavy winter storms arrive.
