Today's riddle: What did one wall say to the other? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. 3 People Seen Fleeing After Vehicle Plunges Into Oceanside Harbor (patch.com) — Early Saturday, a vehicle mysteriously plunged into Oceanside Harbor and sank just a few feet from shore, prompting a search by Oceanside firefighters and the Marine Safety Unit. Witnesses reported three people climbed out of the water and left in a pickup before crews arrived, and police are now investigating how the vehicle ended up in the harbor, though no injuries were reported.
2. Family pleads for tips after possible hit-and-run in Oceanside (10news.com) — An Oceanside family is pleading for witnesses after 31-year-old Christian Fa'amaligi was fatally injured in a suspected hit-and-run while riding his e-bike on Mission Avenue near Fireside. Police are investigating reports that one vehicle initially struck him from behind before another car hit him head-on, and relatives are urging anyone with information to come forward to prevent another tragedy.
3. Nurses to picket over alleged staffing issues at Sharp Tri-City Medical Center (sandiegouniontribune.com) — Nurses at Sharp Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside plan a Tuesday morning picket over what they call unsafe staffing levels and missed breaks, saying patient safety is at risk. Hospital officials counter that the facility remains fully staffed and emphasize the action is not a strike, as both sides continue contract negotiations affecting care for North County residents.
4. Seven arrested in two DAPO parole sweeps (ca.gov) — State parole agents recently carried out Operation Oceanside Sunrise in Oceanside and Carlsbad, arresting five supervised individuals and uncovering weapons, gang paraphernalia, and other violations. A related sweep in Riverside County led to two more arrests of registered sex offenders, highlighting ongoing regional enforcement efforts that can affect public safety awareness for Oceanside residents.
5. High school football rankings: Carlsbad remains No. 1 in our weekly football poll (fresnobee.com) — Oceanside High's football team picked up votes in the latest San Diego Section poll, though it didn't crack the top 10 this week. Carlsbad remains firmly at No. 1, with several other North County programs ranked or receiving votes, giving Oceanside fans a clear picture of how local teams stack up so far this season.
