1. 3 People Seen Fleeing After Vehicle Plunges Into Oceanside Harbor (patch.com) — Early Saturday, a vehicle plunged into Oceanside Harbor near North Harbor Drive, but divers found no one inside after it sank just offshore. Witnesses reported three people climbing out of the water and leaving in a pickup before crews arrived, and Oceanside police are now investigating how the car ended up in the harbor.
2. St. Mary's Church of Oceanside to Host Annual Parish Festival October 4th (northcountydailystar.com) — St. Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church is inviting the whole Oceanside community to its Fourth Annual Fall Festival on Sunday, October 4, in downtown Oceanside. Families can enjoy games, food, lowrider classics, pet blessings, live entertainment, and raffle prizes, while supporting repairs to the historic church ahead of its 2027 centennial.
3. Oceanside's KOCT faces shutdown without additional funding (kpbs.org) — Oceanside's longtime public access station KOCT says it needs to raise $100,000 to stay on the air through June 2027 after the city declined to fill its funding gap this year. With franchise fee revenue falling as residents cut cable, the channel that covers Oceanside council meetings, elections, schools, and community events could go dark as early as year's end without community support.
4. Oceanside Boaters Can Cut Certification Costs in Half This Fall (northcountydailystar.com) — Oceanside boaters can get hands-on Boat Operator Certification training this fall at half the usual cost, thanks to a new scholarship for courses held right in Oceanside Harbor. The Oct. 2–3 class offers on-water instruction using your own boat or the club's vessel, making certification more affordable and accessible for local residents.
5. City of Oceanside prepares for El Niño and potential wet winter weather (10news.com) — Oceanside officials are stepping up preparations for a predicted Super El Niño winter, clearing brush and sediment from the San Luis Rey River and planning sandbag distribution for residents. City leaders warn heavy rains could delay pier repairs and beach projects but say a fall harbor dredge should add protective sand, urging homeowners to flood-proof their properties before storms arrive.
