Big Rigs Collide On Interstate 5 In Oceanside
A big rig struck another large truck parked on the right shoulder of I-5, causing it to veer off the highway, hit a tree and catch fire.
OCEANSIDE, CA — A big rig carrying a wide load struck another large truck parked on the right shoulder of Interstate 5 Tuesday, causing it to veer off the highway, hit a tree and catch fire, but neither driver was seriously hurt, the highway patrol reported.
The collision occurred about 10:40 a.m. on the southbound I-5, just north of Harbor Drive, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Mark Latulippe, who said the fire was extinguished by "good Samaritans."
The drivers of both vehicles suffered minor injuries, he said.

A SigAlert was issued and two of four southbound lanes were closed, clogging traffic in the area.
"We're dealing with a lot of weight," Latulippe said early this afternoon, adding that he expects crews to be out there for "a while."
