Biker Killed In Crash On I-5 In Oceanside ID'd

Authorities identified a 22-year-old Oceanside man who was fatally injured when his motorcycle drifted off a North County freeway offramp.

OCEANSIDE, CA – Authorities Tuesday identified a 22-year-old Oceanside man who was fatally injured when his motorcycle drifted off a North County freeway offramp.

Kyle Hanson was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside on Friday evening, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

He was transitioning from northbound Interstate 5 to state Route 76 around 10 p.m. when his 2007 Yamaha motorcycle drifted off the left-hand side of the roadway, California Highway Patrol Officer Kevin Smale said.

The motorcyclist traveled up a dirt embankment, then back onto the paved offramp, where he was ejected from the bike, Smale said. Bystanders found Hanson around 300 feet from the motorcycle, according to a Medical Examiner's Office statement.
