OCEANSIDE, CA — Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO) has received a $114,000 grant from the Walter J & Betty C. Zable Foundation to install an updated security fence on the perimeter of the Club.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside’s Townsite location underwent two renovations in the last few years, most recently with the addition of the Center for Innovation in 2018. In keeping with the beautification of the building, the generous donation will provide a much-needed update to the fence surrounding the property. Not only will this provide for enhanced security but improve functionality with an automatic security gate to enter and exit the facility’s parking lot.

After a brief closure date due to the COVID-19 pandemic, BGCO opened an Emergency Food Program, serving more than 55,000 free lunches and snacks to any youth under 18 years of age. BGCO resumed in-person programming in June 2020 and remained open ever since, serving over 2,700 youth during the pandemic. The health and safety of its members remains the utmost priority for BGCO.

Funding from the Walter J & Betty C. Zable Foundation will provide the Club the opportunity to not only be more secure but continue with the Club’s infrastructure improvements.

“We are so incredibly grateful for Zable’s generous support. Being able to provide the highest level of protection for the youth we serve is paramount. With this tremendous support, our hardworking parents will have peace of mind, knowing that their child is engaged in a nurturing, fun and safe environment,” said Jodi Diamond, CEO.
