Attain Fitness Results Through Social Workouts

An inviting Oceanside beach workout showed me the benefits of exercising with a group.

It didn’t take long for my DVD workouts to get boring. Three weeks of being alone, I stopped breaking a sweat and I realized I needed to find something different. What I needed was a social workout.

Last fall, I desperate to find a system that worked, so I changed scenery and went to the beach for a run. There, I ran into Anthony Steel who facilitates Steels Bootcamp — a free group fitness camp. He urged me to participate in the hour of physical training for people of all ages and ability levels. I was hooked to the energy and the charisma of the group, so I went weekly and learned why social workouts are more effective.

Here are the top reasons why you should try one:

  • Get Inspired — When you surround yourself with people who are pushing their physical and mental limits, it pumps you up to do the same.
  • Discover Variety— People who lead group workout need to provide participants with something new every time. When you sweat with others it’s guaranteed variety.
  • Spark Friendships — Gym settings tend to be competitive. Working out in a group promotes teamwork. Plus, conversing with and motivating others only leads to making new friends.
  • Maintain Accountability —Your worst enemy is you. By surrounding yourself with people who have fitness goals, it helps you stick to your own. The people you exercise with become your support team.
  • Create a Healthy Lifestyle —Training with others makes you mentally and physically fit, which is essential to create a healthy lifestyle. Group workouts inspire the mind to burn in new habits.

Since discovering Steels Fitness Camps I was able to achieve my goals of eating healthier and fitting into my skinny jeans. In addition, the friendships I made allowed me to maintain the goals.

I have also been able to enjoy my own personal workouts, because I learned new techniques to push my body to limits I didn’t think were ever possible. I also created support group to share my successes with, which makes me even more motivated, and inspired to sustain my new healthy lifestyle.

I will never go back to merely working out alone. To achieve goals in life, you need a team; and when you engage in a group workout, you leave with friends to learn and grow with.

So when life gets me down; when I feel overwhelmed; I get lost, frustrated, or just want some advice, I know I now have a team in my life and I owe that to the chance encounter and following through with the team. I encourage you to also discover the benefits of a group workout!
