Here are the top stories in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton today:

1. Oceanside greenlighted the Breeze Luxury Apartments project despite pushback from the public and rejections from the Planning Commission. The downtown project was approved in 2019 for only 34 units. Fast forward to 2022, and the developers are using California's Density Bonus Law to up the project to 146 units on a 2.67-acre location off Oceanside Boulevard between Nevada and Ditmar. Councilmembers Rodriguez, Jensen and Weiss voted to approve the project while Mayor Sanchez and Deputy Mayor Keim were opposed. (Coast News)
2. Animal Kingdom, the popular TNT series that was filmed in Oceanside, is ranked among the "best TV series finales of 2022." Not only did the show film all six seasons in Oceanside but it was also the name of the fictional town where the infamous Cody crime family was based. "The series finale appropriately sent the remaining Codys out with a bang. It certainly wasn't a happy ending, but it was right for the show." (The A.V. Club)
3. Oceanside gas prices dropped below $4 per gallon for the first time since November 2021. The average price in San Diego County has been steadily decreasing for the last two months. "The seasonal pattern of less driving due to shorter days and crummy weather, combined with a lower oil cost, is driving gas prices lower," said Andrew Gross, an AAA national public relations manager." In Oceanside gas can be found for as low as $3.83 per gallon, according to GasBuddy. (KPBS)
