Brush Fire Sparks In Vista, Prompts Road Closure

Officials advised motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes while crews worked to contain the fire.

VISTA, CA — Crews are battling a brush fire Thursday afternoon in North County.

The blaze, called the Fairview Fire, sparked in the 2900 block of Fairview Drive in Vista, according to North County Fire Protection District.

As of Thursday afternoon, the fire has burned one acre near Fairview Drive and Gopher Canyon Road, Cal Fire said.

"Smoke may be visible, but there is no fire threat to our district," according to the district, which serves the communities of Fallbrook, Bonsall and Rainbow.

The fire prompted the closure of Gopher Canyon Road between Little Gopher Canyon Road and East Vista Way, according to the California Highway Patrol.
