CAMP PENDLETON, CA: Firefighters were battling a brush fire Thursday on Camp Pendleton that broke out near the center of the northern San Diego County base.
By 7 p.m., the wildfire that began in the X-Ray Impact Area was 1,130 acres in size, according to the base officials, but no structures, personnel or equipment was reportedly imminently threatened.
There were also no reports of injuries as the Camp Pendleton Fire Department continued to monitor the fire.

The blaze did force the closure of Basilone Road south of Las Pulgas Road because of poor visibility from smoke, but officials later said the roadway had reopened.
While live-fire training exercises have sparked previous wildfires on the Marine Corps base, it was not immediately clear how Thursday's was caused.
